Districts and Magistrates

Lawmakers are required to redraw the boundaries of legislative districts every 10 years in an effort to have the same number of people in each district, based on updated population data from the U.S. Census Bureau. Jessamine County’s population grew 24.4 percent from 10 years ago, with 48,586 people, according to federal Census 2010 .  District No. 3, represented by Terry Meckstroth, had a population within the limits but still saw proposed changes because of other districts’ lines moving.

“There weren’t any real big changes, but we had to take into consideration on the northern end of the county, that’s really boomed — the southern end of the county, too.” said Eva McDaniel, then-County Clerk and non-voting chairwoman of the reapportionment committee.. “In the last 10 years, there have been four or five subdivisions added.”, McDaniel said.

Therefore, Crosswoods Subdivision is now represented by two magistrates and is in two districts, as follows:

Crosswoods I is in District 2, represented by magistrate, Tim Vaughan.
